Install these drivers: 9.64 178.24 First just try the 9.64 - then try the 178.24. Anything else ODD happening? It's not checked. I think i have the 178.24 installed, but i'll try 9.64. Nothing else really..Nothing in event viewer out of the ordinary. It's just rebooting without warning and usually while there is stress on the rig. Although now I would say its freezing up more than it is rebooting. I've swapped video cards out and used a GeForce 8800 GT, and still had the same problem. I've also reseated the ram multiple times in different slots. Something tells me that it might have to do with the MCP overheating, but on another thread/forum someone said 57C was pretty normal. It was also strange that whenever i turned my nvidia fan (one on the MCP) up to 100% in bios, that it seemed to crash more often. The fan is blowing hot air straight onto the back of my video card. But I don't really know if that is causing a problem, since my card's temps are normal.

Give me more information about the RAM please. What I want you to do is PHYSICALLY enter the BIOS and find the VOLTAGE and TIMINGS stated in there and then the information off the STICKER on the side of them. Running CPU-z will not give me what I am looking for on this.

Wow, after doing a little more 'googling' i find that this isn't such of a mystery. The internet is littered with the 790i chipset problems. There are small fixes that work for some people, but others not. Take a look at this thread : As for the memory, i've tried different timings and voltages. Gone to 7-7-7-20 and up to 1.55v. My memory is rated at 1.5v. I read that someone upped his 1.5v rated memory all the way to 1.9v and all was stable....i guess i'll try that :S I've also upped my MCP to 1.55v and SPP to 1.35v with no help.

Wow. I would never suggest 1.9v on 1.5v ram, generally they are covered under warrantee for +.2v Crucials website is one of the worst I have seen. They appear more like a store than a source of information / specificiation about their products. The setting in the picture are most likely the most stable. Curious, what game does it generally crash on? And when you were browsing the internet, did you have background tasks like STEAM or another game supported item?(something FIRE comes to mind)

But now it hasn't crashed in nearly two days; freezing has taken the place of crashing. And browsing the internet was just me trying to show that it freezes while doing anything, not just games. But yeah, it'll freeze if i just go afk to about 30 min. Yeah lol crucial is horrible. I couldn't find ANY place that showed stable timings for this RAM.

If you still trying things, try disable SMART checks in the nVidia Media Shield for every user on system. =)

Hi, I recently built my brother a computer, but it is now experiencing a few problems that i have not been able to fix. I've searched a lot of forums and tried a lot of solutions, but to no avail. I'm now posting to see if someone smarter than me can shed some light on this issue :) Whats wrong: Computer crashing without any errors or blue screens. Usually happens while in a game, but has happened while just browsing the internet. Computer Freezing randomly. ---------------------------------------- Computer Specs: OS - Vista Ultimate (32-bit) CPU - QuadCore Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400, 2666 MHz (8 x 333) Motherboard - XFX MB-N790-IUL9 (2 PCI, 2 PCI-E x1, 3 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR3 DIMM, Audio, Dual Gigabit LAN, IEEE-1394) Motherboard Chipset - nVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI GPU - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 (896 MB) Memory - Crucial 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) PSU - CORSAIR 750W ----------------------------------------------- You might suspect first, as I did, that it is a heat issue. Well i've searched a lot of forums and using Everest Ultimate it seems that all of my temperatures are quite normal (atleast i think). ------------------------------------------------ Temperatures: Sensor Properties Sensor Type Winbond W83627DHG (ISA 290h) GPU Sensor Type Analog Devices ADT7473 (NV-I2C 2Eh) Motherboard Name nForce 790i Reference Board Chassis Intrusion Detected Yes Temperatures Motherboard 34 °C (93 °F) CPU 40 °C (104 °F) CPU #1 / Core #1 41 °C (106 °F) CPU #1 / Core #2 41 °C (106 °F) CPU #1 / Core #3 45 °C (113 °F) CPU #1 / Core #4 37 °C (99 °F) SPP 46 °C (115 °F) MCP 57 °C (135 °F) GPU [ TRIAL VERSION ] (Running around 42 °C Idle) GPU Memory 34 °C (93 °F) GPU Ambient 37 °C (99 °F) Seagate ST31000528AS [ TRIAL VERSION ] Cooling Fans CPU 1442 RPM nForce 3368 RPM GPU 1370 RPM (40%) Voltage Values CPU Core 1.26 V +3.3 V 3.30 V +12 V [ TRIAL VERSION ] +5 V Standby 4.99 V VBAT Battery 3.04 V 3.3V Dual 3.30 V North Bridge Core 1.32 V DIMM 1.50 V GPU Vcc [ TRIAL VERSION ] Debug Info F FF 75 FF FF FF Debug Info T 86 37 34 Debug Info V 90 AB CE CE A5 F2 E4 (03) Debug Info I C1 A025 ------------------------------------------------ Right now i can't think of any more info that you all would need, but if there is any please ask and i will give it to you.
