CUDA Application Support:
In order to run Mac OS X Applications that leverage the CUDA architecture of the Quadro 4000 for Mac product, users will need to download and install the CUDA 3.2 driver for Mac located here.
New in Release 256.01.00f03v7:
- This driver update is required and fixes performance issues introduced with the latest Software Update from Apple.
- The NVIDIA Quadro 4000 for Mac requires Mac OS X v10.6.5 or newer to run, however because OS X does not yet have native support for the Quadro 4000 for Mac, users must install this driver before installing the hardware.
- This driver update is for Mac Pro 5,1 (2010), Mac Pro 4,1 (2009) and Mac Pro 3,1 (2008) users only, whose owners would like to use the new Quadro 4000 for Mac graphics card.
- The NVIDIA Quadro 4000 for Mac requires Mac OS X v10.6.5 to run, however because OS X v10.6.5 does not have native support for the Quadro 4000 for Mac, users must install this driver before installing the hardware.
- Please note that if you are running the Quadro FX 4800 for Mac or the GeForce GTX 285, you do not need to upgrade to this driver

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS for Quadro 4000 for Mac
- Model identifier should be MacPro3,1 (2008), MacPro4,1 (2009), MacPro5,1 (2010) or later
- Mac OS X v10.6.5 or later
- Intel Xeon® processor or higher
- Latest graphics and CUDA drivers from NVIDIA.COM
- Dual slot with one (1) open PCI Express ×16 slot (if also installing the optional 3D Stereo bracket)
- 2 GB system memory recommended
To download and install the drivers, follow the steps below:
STEP 1: Make sure your Mac OS X software version is 10.6.5 or greater. It is important that you check this first before you install the Quadro 4000 for Mac graphics board. Click on the Apple icon (upper left corner of the screen) and select About This Mac.
STEP 2: In the About This Mac window, click on the Software Update button
STEP 3: Continue to install software updates until your system OS is reported to be 10.6.5 or later
STEP 4: Review the NVIDIA Software License. Check terms and conditions checkbox to allow driver download.
You will need to accept this license prior to downloading any files.
STEP 5: Download the Driver File
Download - Retail_256.01.00f03v7.dmg
STEP 6: Install
Click on the Installer package to install the driver. It will guide you through the installation process. Click Continue after you read the License Agreement and then click Agree
STEP 7: Click Install on the Standard Installer screen. You will be required to enter an Administrator password to continue
STEP 8: Click Continue Installation on the Warning screen:The Warning screen lets you know that you will need to restart your system once the installation process is complete.
STEP 9: Click Restart on the Installation Completed Successfully screen.
