Leaving NVIDIA

As you prepare to leave NVIDIA, there's important information you'll need to review before your last day. Carefully review the Leaving NVIDIA site on NVINFO, including the  Benefits & Equity page for information about continuing your healthcare coverage through COBRA. Generally, your medical, dental, and vision plan coverage will end on the last day of the month in which you leave NVIDIA or your eligibility ends.

NVIDIA’s COBRA administrator, Bswift, will send a COBRA election packet to the mailing address on file in Workday within 14 days after your last date of coverage. You'll have 60 days to decide whether to elect COBRA continuation coverage. You'll be eligible to enroll for up to 18 months. If you do enroll in COBRA coverage will be effective on the date after the date your enrollment in your current NVIDIA plan ends.

  • What will happen to my 401(k) plan when I leave NVIDIA?

    If your 401(k) account balance is at least $1,000, you have three options for what to do with the funds:

    • Leave the balance in NVIDIA’s 401(k) plan until IRS rules require distributing them
    • Roll the balance over to another qualified plan or IRA
    • Have the funds distributed to your bank account, with tax consequences

    If your 401(k) account balance is less than $1,000, Fidelity will distribute the funds to you, minus any applicable withholding taxes, in the quarter after your termination. You’ll receive information from Fidelity that explores your options for what to do with your 401(k) funds. Your Fidelity login credentials will remain the same when you leave NVIDIA.

    If you have an outstanding loan against your 401(k) Plan, you must repay it in full within 30 days of your termination date. You may pay online by adding a bank account to your Fidelity 401(k) account (adding a bank account may take 7 days) or you may send a check (payable to NVIDIA Corporation 401(k) Plan) to Fidelity Investments so that it arrives on or before the 30th day following your termination date. If the outstanding loan balance is not repaid, that amount will be treated as a distribution of taxable income, subject to penalties for early withdrawal from a 401(k) plan.

  • What will happen to my Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) when I leave NVIDIA?

    After leaving NVIDIA, you'll continue to have access to your Charles Schwab account; your existing ESPP shares are yours to keep, gift, or sell as you choose. If you were participating in ESPP, any contributions made towards the plan will be refunded on your final paycheck on your last day with NVIDIA.

  • What will happen to my Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) when I leave NVIDIA?

    Unless otherwise set forth in any change of control agreement between you and NVIDIA or its affiliates, under the terms of your RSU grant notice, RSU agreement, and the applicable equity plan, vesting of your RSUs will cease on your termination date. You are responsible for any withholding tax obligations to the vested shares.

  • What will happen to my Health Savings Account (HSA) when I leave NVIDIA?

    Your HSA funds are portable so you will continue to have access to them after the termination of your employment. Your Fidelity account will remain active with the same login credentials.

  • What will happen to my Health Care Flexible Spending Account (HCFSA) when I leave NVIDIA?

    If you participated in the Health Care Flexible Spending Account, or the Limited Purpose Flexible Spending Account, you have until June 15 to submit claims incurred by December 31 of the previous year. You may receive reimbursement for allowable medical expenses incurred through the last day of the month in which you terminate from NVIDIA. You have 90 days to submit claims.

  • What will happen to my Day Care Flexible Spending Account (DCFSA) when I leave NVIDIA?

    If you participate in the Day Care Flexible Spending Account, you may use the spend down feature to receive reimbursement for any balance remaining in your Day Care FSA for allowable employment-related day care expenses incurred through the last day of the plan year in which you terminate.   • What will happen to my life and AD&D insurance when I leave NVIDIA?

    Your coverage under the Basic Life, Basic Spouse or Child Life, Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Supplemental Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance ends on your termination date. You'll receive a packet of information from Prudential regarding options to convert or port your insurance. To continue coverage, you'll need to complete the application within 31 days of your coverage termination. For more information, contact Prudential at 1-800-778-3827.

  • What will happen to my voluntary benefits when I leave NVIDIA?

    For voluntary benefits such as Nationwide Pet Insurance, Identity Theft Protection from IdentityForce, or LegalEASE, please contact the appropriate vendor. You can find vendor contact information on the Contacts and Policy Numbers page.
