ASR Reimagines the Quran Journey

There are 1.8 billion Muslims across the globe, but only 16 percent of them speak Arabic, the language of the Quran. This is in part due to the fact that many Muslims struggle to find qualified instructors to give them feedback on their Quran recitation. The Tarteel.AI platform provides users with AI-powered tools to support their journey. Tarteel’s ASR technology closes the gap between Quran recitation and instruction by providing Muslims with recitation feedback. The platform also leverages gamification and unique tools to improve their overall experience with the holy book.

NVIDIA Solution

Tarteel used NVIDIA speech AI tools, including NVIDIA Riva, the GPU-accelerated SDK for building customized speech applications, and NVIDIA NeMo, the open-source framework that enables developers to build and train state-of-the-art conversational AI models. These tools help Tarteel provide real-time feedback on Quran recitation, at scale, enabling Muslims to better practice their faith.

State-of-the-art results with a 4 percent WER

Tarteel offers the world’s first Quranic Arabic ASR. The platform achieves state-of-the-art results with a 4 percent word-error rate (WER), improving the overall Quran ecosystem with tools that help individual Muslims, instructors, schools, content creators, and researchers engage with the Muslim faith.
