Staff Technical Leading Engineer
Hey there, I’m Linus Bourque, your friendly neighborhood VMware aficionado! For the past 19 years, I’ve been on this wild ride with VMware, starting off as a TSE/escalation engineer in the Canadian Support office. But you know what they say about old flames—I missed teaching! So, I hopped over to VMware’s Education team, where I’ve been spreading the knowledge as a senior instructor. These days, you’ll find me flexing my brain muscles as part of the Americas Education Tech Lead team.
Now, let’s talk about my claim to fame—I’ve been the lead instructor for a smorgasbord of end-user computing courses for the past 14 years. From Horizon with View to Mirage, ThinApp to App Volumes, I’ve covered it all. And hey, I’ve even dabbled in Horizon Cloud on Azure because, well, why not?
But wait, there’s more! I’m not just a teacher—I’m a creator too. I’ve had my hands in the pot, stirring up various desktop and mobility certifications like the VCP, VCAP/VCIX, and VCDX. Oh, and did I mention I was the certifier of new instructors? Yep, I was the gatekeeper of VMware wisdom.
Now, let’s rewind to May 2023. I took a little detour and joined the VCF team to cook up some on-demand videos for vCloud Direct, Tanzu Kubernetes Grid, and vSphere with Tanzu. It’s been a blast, but I’ll be honest—I miss the chaos of the EUC world.
Outside of the tech bubble, life gets interesting. I met my better half in the concrete jungle of NYC, and we traded skyscrapers for palm trees when we landed in Los Angeles. But in May 2020, we made a bold move to Halifax, Nova Scotia. The cats were not pleased when we welcomed a Golden Retriever puppy into the mix. Oops! And they were even less pleased when we added a second one!
When I’m not schooling the masses or wrangling furballs, you’ll find me in Azeroth, fighting tooth and nail against the Alliance (FOR THE HORDE!). And let’s not forget my quest for the holy grail of pairings—finding the perfect single malt to complement my cigar collection. Ah, the simple joys of life!
