2K went for Stadia, but that shut down. Perhaps Nvidia can revisit their options.

This is because the retarded save system somehow registers a game launch as a new local save (or something too much like it). Thus always giving you a conflict. I had it even worse: GFN won't even sync my local save, gives me a useless error message. I've now resaved locally and am waiting to see if X time passed will allow it to sync. God I f#cking hate KCD's retarded save system.

I hear what you're saying and there's definitely something to be said for that. I recon it was much easier to add 4k support to the Nvidia Shield since Nvidia knows what kind of specs it has (unlike the PC's we're playing from). On a side note: I'm by far no expert on streaming but wouldn't the requirements for 1440p at 120fps be similar to 2160p at 60fps?
Personally I'd still prefer an option, even if it was a hidden setting somewhere, or a slightly more expansive version of the subscription (like a 3080+ version) to be able to choose for 4k on my PC. After all, while not everyone may have the required hardware / bandwith, it's preferable that the choice for 1080p, 1440p, or 2160p is your choice instead of that choice not being available at all. Especially since the Nvidia Shield shows that from Nvidia's end offering 4k is no problem.

Managed to solve the issue with thanks to Nvidia support. Updating my original post with the solution in case anyone else runs into this issue.

Thanks for clarifying that part MrInfinit3. The lanes shouldn't be a problem I think as it has 2 PCI slots with 16 lanes (3.0 and a 2.0, but I read that the top m2 slot (which I use) shares a connection with the second slot, which will cause the second card not to work when trying a dual GPU setup.
However, I also tried with just the 3080 and that didn't work either, but it does work with just a 1080 and that same 3080 works fine in another PC.

There was a reply earlier which now seems to be gone? It linked to a video but while informative, that video didn't help with my problem nor relate to it as I wasn't able to get the GPU working properly in the first place.
