try bumping it up to "prefer max performance"
For a while there i was getting similar freezes, always when the GPU was winding down from base clocks to idle low usage states.
PMP keeps the clocks up at base, and it stopped the freezes. You'll want an app like MSI afterburner to keep your GPU fans up and running to combat the extra heat gain on the card though

sadly no solution, at the moment im still seeing excessive GPU usage with my 3D modelling programs (some, but not all of them)
My games are working well enough though, so there is that

having a similar thing. Doesnt happen all the time, but when i turn the machine on sometimes the sound is just not there, little speaker icon got that red marker over it. A quick run of the troubleshoot seems to fix it
