Beating The Bots With Best Buy: Gamers Get GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs Across North America

Best Buy stores in the United States and Canada have helped gamers in hundreds of locations get GeForce RTX 30 Series graphics cards via frequent supply drops, each bigger than the last. The latest was held this morning, beating bots by getting graphics cards straight into the hands of gamers.

Best Buy’s supply drops are just the start - more retail stores, in more countries, are receiving shipments of GeForce RTX 30 Series graphics cards, which are sold on-site, direct to gamers. Staff give out tickets for the line, and once all are assigned the line is closed. Local guidance for safe social distancing is followed, and when the shops open in the morning, cards are sold in an orderly fashion.

If you’re a long-time gamer, it’s a situation reminiscent of midnight launches and new-platform launches, back before online sales became standard. Queuers chat, play multiplayer games on laptops and handhelds, hold people’s spots during comfort breaks, watch movies on projectors in the back of pickups, and generally have a whole load of fun, forming new friendships overnight. All with the knowledge that a shiny new graphics card awaits, ready to install into their computers the next morning.
