DLSS 4 With Multi Frame Generation & Enhancements For All DLSS Technologies Available Now In Over 75 Games and Apps

NVIDIA DLSS is a suite of neural rendering technologies, powered by GeForce RTX Tensor Cores, that boost frame rates while delivering crisp, high-quality images that rival native resolution rendering.

Today, we’re advancing DLSS once again with the release of DLSS 4, featuring DLSS Multi Frame Generation for GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards and laptops.

DLSS Multi Frame Generation generates up to three additional frames per traditionally rendered frame, working in unison with the complete suite of DLSS technologies to multiply frame rates by up to 8X over traditional brute-force rendering. This massive performance improvement unlocks stunning 4K 240 FPS fully ray-traced gaming on GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards:

On the GeForce RTX 5090, DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation multiplies performance by over 8X versus traditional brute force rendering in this Cyberpunk 2077 scene, PC latency is halved for more responsive gameplay, and image quality is further enhanced

DLSS 4 also introduces the biggest upgrade to its AI models since the release of DLSS 2.0 in 2020.

DLSS Super Resolution, DLSS Ray Reconstruction, and DLAA are now powered by the graphics industry’s first real-time application of ‘transformers’, the same advanced architecture powering frontier AI models like ChatGPT, Flux, and Gemini. DLSS transformer models improve image quality with improved temporal stability, less ghosting, and higher detail in motion.

Similarly, the DLSS Frame Generation AI model is also upgraded, boosting performance and reducing VRAM use on GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs and GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs.

Alan Wake 2 Introduces DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, RTX Mega Geometry & More

Remedy Entertainment’s critically acclaimed Alan Wake 2 is one of the best-looking and most immersive games released to date. Now, GeForce RTX gamers can experience Alan Wake 2, published by Epic Games, with additional visual refinements, higher levels of detail, new DLSS 4 AI models, and even faster performance thanks to DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation.

Available for download now, Alan Wake 2’s new update upgrades the complete suite of DLSS technologies, introduces the first ever integration of NVIDIA RTX Mega Geometry, and adds an Ultra quality ray tracing preset.

GeForce RTX 50 Series owners can enable DLSS Multi Frame Generation alongside the suite of other DLSS technologies, multiplying performance by an average of 8.7X in comparison to brute-force rendering. With this unprecedented leap in performance, Alan Wake 2 can be played with full ray tracing at absolute max settings at up to 230 FPS, enabling GeForce RTX 50 Series owners to experience the highest-quality graphics seen to date in a game, at previously unimaginable frame rates.

At 2560x1440, a 5.5X average performance multiplier enables GeForce RTX 50 Series owners to play at up to 290 FPS:

And at 1920x1080, a 5.1X average multiplier sees performance reach an unbelievable 400 frames per second on the GeForce RTX 5090:

All GeForce RTX gamers benefit from the upgrade to DLSS 4, with DLSS Super Resolution, DLSS Ray Reconstruction, and DLAA now using our new DLSS 4 transformer AI model. And GeForce RTX 50 Series and GeForce RTX 40 Series gamers can use our upgraded DLSS Frame Generation model that can increase performance, while reducing VRAM usage.

Using DLSS 4, visual clarity is improved, image stability is increased, ghosting and shimmering is reduced, and detail is improved, especially in scenes with challenging lighting.

Alan Wake 2’s new update also adds NVIDIA RTX Mega Geometry, further refining the game’s already-stunning fully ray-traced image quality on all GeForce RTX GPUs.

NVIDIA RTX Mega Geometry in Alan Wake 2 works as an optimization to accelerate the construction and updating of Bounding Volume Hierarchies (BVHs), enabling updates every frame, ensuring the BVH is always accurate. This eliminates visual anomalies such as shadow draw-in, reduces CPU and GPU BVH build and update times, and reduces VRAM consumption. In other words, Alan Wake 2 looks better and runs faster.

NVIDIA RTX Mega Geometry is automatically enabled in-game when a GeForce RTX GPU using our newest Game Ready Driver is detected, instantly improving a player’s experience.

"With DLSS 4 and GeForce RTX 50 Series we are seeing significant performance gains which enable us to create new game worlds larger and more detailed than ever." - Mika Vehkala, Chief Technology Officer, Remedy Entertainment

Alan Wake 2’s new update also introduces a new Ultra quality level Ray Tracing preset, adding fully ray-traced refractions, fully ray-traced transparent reflections, and higher-quality fully ray-traced indirect lighting.

Glass and water accurately refract light, transparent surfaces and objects boast greatly enhanced pixel-perfect reflections, lighting quality is even better, and in general Alan Wake 2 can be explored with yet another level of refinement.

This new Ultra quality ray tracing preset, combined with NVIDIA RTX Mega Geometry, the all-new transformer-based DLSS models, and DLSS Multi Frame Generation, enable Alan Wake 2 players to experience the stunning game, and expansions, with an even higher level of image quality, and heightened realism and immersion.

All of these enhancements are available for free, as part of Remedy Entertainment’s new Alan Wake 2 update, which can be downloaded now from the Epic Games Store.
