The GeForce RTX 2070 is the ideal gateway to affordable yet powerful gaming performance. Built with next-gen NVIDIA Turing architecture, the GeForce RTX 2070 unlocks access to real-time ray tracing: a groundbreaking new tech that renders lifelike imagery through incredibly detailed and accurate lighting, reflections, and shadows. Furthermore, the GeForce RTX 2070 offers Deep Learning Super-Sampling (DLSS), AI-enhanced graphics in games, advanced programmable shaders, and the world’s fastest memory via 8GB of GDDR6. In fact, it’s fast enough that it actually beats the last generation GeForce GTX 1080, for roughly the same asking price.

Additionally, the GeForce RTX 2070 has 8K HDR 60Hz support through DisplayPort 1.4 and expanded VR functionality through USB Type-C, as well as Virtual Link, Foveated Rendering, VRWorks sound, and Multi-View Rendering. All of that translates into the highest graphics quality possible combined with superior performance and versatility.

Complementing the new tech, the GeForce RTX 2070 also unveils a brand-new cooler. It’s configured with a pair of dual-axial 13-blade fans, which operate quietly while simultaneously keeping the GPU nice and frosty. Surrounding the fans is a lightweight, die-cast aluminum cover, and a full-sized vapor chamber. Because of the added cooling support and a next-generation 6-phase power supply, the Founders Edition comes with a healthy factory overclock, with the potential for even higher clock speeds in well-cooled cases.

Plenty of reviews for the GeForce RTX 2070 Founder’s Edition are now available. PC Perspective says it “represents the sweet spot between performance and price,” and PC World remarks that it “Packs futuristic hardware for ray tracing and AI-enhanced graphics, but it's also faster than the competition in traditional games.”

Thanks to NVIDIA’s numerous worldwide partners, there are heaps of custom GeForce RTX 2070 cards to consider, starting at the enticing price of $499. To be clear, that means you’re getting all the benefits of the RTX platform at a mid-budget cost, witdid h numerous extra features on top of it. Each GPU contains different cooler designs and visual styles, and many of them grant even more overclocking potential due to extra fans and plus-sized heatsinks.

When deciding which of the many custom GeForce RTX 2070 cards to buy, it helps to ponder a couple of areas that interest you the most. For example, you might be partial to customizable LEDs and colors to give your rig some added character. You might also be gunning for total overclocking superiority, in which case a multi-fan setup with an all-encompassing heatsink would be critical. Or maybe your case lacks an abundance of fans, and its cables aren’t entirely pristine, so you’d like a blower-based GPU to keep it as cool as possible. (Many custom RTX 2070s route their exhaust inside your case, instead of out of it, so healthy airflow is a good idea.) These are just a handful of examples, of course.

For more help on which GPU properties might impact your PC the most, check out articles and forums on reputable sites such as Tom’s Hardware, Ars Technica, PC World, and others. To aid you along your journey, we’ve included vital info for every custom option, including the price, online reviews (when available), required power connectors, card sizes, and the manufacturer’s website.

Another quick tip: be sure to look for custom GeForce RTX 2070 online in addition to shopping at physical retailers, as the web can offer great limited time deals and price drops.

The gunmetal grey MSI GeForce RTX Gaming Z 8G makes a bold visual statement. It uses a brushed aluminum backplate with hidden thermal pads, and RGB LED light strips along the surface of the shroud. By installing MSI’s Mystic Light software, you can tweak the look and feel of the lights, or turn them off entirely if you wish. MSI’s Twin Frozr 7 design keeps the card cool using a pair of fans and a complex heatsink. Each TORX 3.0 fan has both curved dispersion fan blades, as well as traditionally curved blades, and a double ball-bearing construction. MSI claims these fans create near-silent operation, extended life, and optimized static pressure. Furthermore, MSI’s Zero Frozr tech activates the pair of fans only when the card’s temps go above 60° C.

The thick, lengthy heatsink is built with a massive array of aluminum fins, and each of its tightly knitted concentrated heatpipes make direct contact with the nickel-plated copper baseplate. MSI also claims that their premium thermal compound, applied to the bottom of the baseplate during fabrication, increases the cooling power and outlives the competition. MSI even customized the PCB with more layers, extra power delivery, and a die-cast metal sheet, which serves as a heatsink for the memory. There’s another metal sheet fused to the power phases for additional cooling support.

If you’re looking for some added color though, the GPU offers plenty of RGB LED areas, which are customizable through MSI’s Mystic Light utility (you can also adjust the lighting effects, or disable the LED’s altogether). The PCB has a metal backplate for added support, and the Armor thermal design uses a pair of TORX 2.0 double ball-bearing fans. Both fans have a combination of dispersion blades and traditional blades, which MSI claims accelerates the airflow more steadily to the heatsink compared to typical fans. And with ZeroFrozr technology, the fans will stay in idle mode until the GPU’s temperature rises above 60° C.

MSI further enhanced the embedded heatsink, which they claim optimizes heat dissipation through an advanced aerodynamic design. The whole array rests on top of a nickel-plated copper base-plate, which connects into the heatsink’s smooth heat pipes with squared bottoms. The baseplate contacts the PCB via a premium thermal compound, which MSI claims reduces heat and increases hardware life. Under the heatsink and fans is another layer, in the form of a die-cast metal sheet. It acts as another level of heat transfer for the memory modules as well as an anti-bending strip. The power phases have a similar plate covering them to ensure a complete cooling solution. MSI created a custom, exclusive PCB for this graphics card, and they claim it results in extra stability for more extreme usage.
