ASUS

ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4090

Boost Clock: 2550 MHz
Power Connectors: One 16-pin
Size: 3.65-Slot
MSRP: $1599
Manufacturer’s Product Page

ASUS’s long-running TUF Gaming line is back for the launch of the GeForce RTX 40 Series. Last generation, tri-axial fans were introduced, with the central fan running in the opposite direction to reduce turbulence, decrease noise and increase static airflow pressure, for an overall improved experience. This generation, the fans have been scaled up to propel 23% more air through the card, further improving temperatures and acoustics.

When the card is below 50 Celsius, fans will stop, decreasing computer noise, and as load increases they’ll gradually ramp up when temperatures pass 55C.

Taking cues from the Founders Edition flow through design, the PCB and metal backplate once again feature cut outs and vents to help exhaust hot air more efficiently.

An O24G variant (TUF-RTX4090-O24G-GAMING) ups the factory overclock to 2595 MHz, and has a MSRP of $1799.

ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition

Boost Clock: 2640 MHz (OC mode)
Power Connectors: One 16-pin
Size: 3.5-Slot
MSRP: $1999
Manufacturer’s Product Page

Compared to the TUF, ASUS’s STRIX model ups the clock speeds and adds several extras to help enthusiasts attain even higher levels of performance through manual overclocking.

For starters, two PWM FanConnect headers enable chassis fans to be directly attached to the graphics card, and their fan curves modified to be based on CPU and GPU temperatures. So when you’re pushing the card and temperatures increase, you can get extra fresh intake air, and expel hot air faster.

An added Dual BIOS switch gives you extra overclocking possibilities, and by default toggles between Quiet and Performance fan profiles. And finally, to help monitor the card, a Quick Diagnosis feature helps you get to your optimum OC.

If you’re an extreme overclocker, this could be the card for you.

Colorful / iGame

Colorful GeForce RTX 4090 NB EX-V

Boost Clock: 2565 MHz

MSRP: $1799
Manufacturer’s Product Page

Colorful makes unique cards with distinctive features, and last generation’s Vulcan introduced a flip-up 480x128 LCD screen, allowing a user to see stats and animations whether the card was mounted horizontally or vertically. This time round, the screen has been upgraded to 800x216, and is now removable. Why would you do that? So you can put it on your desk in a dock, allowing you to monitor your GPU without having to leave the comfort of your chair!

If you move the screen to your desk, Colorful also includes a lightboard to take the display’s place on your GPU, adding an extra bit of bling. Control all functions via the included software, and up your style.

On the hardware side, fans are upgraded to 104mm, there’s a one-click overclocking button on the I/O bracket, and the construction of the heatsink has been upgraded for even better cooling. For extreme overclockers, the Vulcan is well worth considering.

Colorful iGame GeForce RTX 4090 Neptune OC-V

Boost Clock: 2640 MHz (One-Key OC Mode)

Manufacturer’s Product Page

GALAX’s ST card builds upon their previous-gen GPUs by upgrading to a new “Wings 2.0” cooling system that increases airflow by 25%, air pressure by 15% and flow through efficiency by 50%. Fans are now 102mm, up from 92mm, and the included fourth fan, which is clipped to the rear of the card, is also 102mm, up from 80mm.

Using their 1-Clip Booster technology, buyers simply snap the fourth fan into place and attach a power cable to the GPU. Doing so pulls hot air through the cut-out at a far faster rate, improving cooling performance.

Like many cards, the GALAX ST includes a support stand to ward against GPU sag, though GALAX’s a step above, featuring ARGB that matches the card’s lighting profile, and magnetic attachment, making your setup super snazzy.
