Work Smarter Not Harder With NVIDIA Studio: Advanced AI Accelerating Your Favorite Creative Apps

New AI features in top creative apps, running on NVIDIA RTX GPUs, are changing - and accelerating - the way we create.

These new features improve image quality, replace lengthy render wait times and eliminate time-consuming, but necessary, tasks we must crawl through prior to completion.

Adobe’s Super Resolution — now available in Adobe Camera Raw and coming to Lightroom and Lightroom Classic this summer — is one of the ways we will see pictures clearer.

Improvements to the DaVinci Neural Engine, in DaVinci Resolve 17, alongside new tools like Magic Mask that effortlessly select and remove people from backgrounds, make creating easier.

These features and apps are just some of the updates supported in the latest NVIDIA Studio Driver, available today.

For 3D artists, there’s also a lot of hurry up and wait. Race to finish the model, then sit around and watch it render over the course of minutes, if not hours, making your underpowered laptop useless.

This month we’re celebrating AI in all its forms with features that assist creators in realizing their artistic visions.

Let’s start with one of the biggest priorities for every photographer and graphic designer, image quality.  

Enhance Images, a feature in Adobe Lightroom, uses machine learning to sharpen and improve image quality, running up to 5x faster on NVIDIA GPUs.  

Its scion, Super Resolution, is available now in Adobe Camera Raw, and is coming to Lightroom and Lightroom Classic this summer. This new feature improves an image’s quality by intelligently enlarging photos while maintaining clean edges and preserving important details. With the push of a button, Super Resolution smoothly enlarges and enhances a 10-megapixel photo into a 40 megapixel picture that’s ready to be printed large for display.

Better yet, tests show Super Resolution processes images an astonishing 27X faster with the power of a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 laptop GPU compared to a laptop CPU with integrated graphics.

Adobe Photoshop users now also benefit from real-time AI features. 

Neural filters are an AI feature set that enable artists to explore creative ideas and make amazing, complex adjustments to images in just seconds. With Smart Portrait in Photoshop, artists can easily experiment, making edits to facial characteristics, such as gaze direction and lighting angles, simply by dragging a slider. 

Done manually, these adjustments would take artists hours of tedious work. AI allows artists to make these changes almost instantaneously.

This gives artists greater flexibility with their images long after the photoshoot has ended. And they retain full control over their work with a non-destructive workflow, while the effects blend naturally into the original image.

Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve 17 is a massive release, with a ton of exciting features, including time-saving AI tools. 

The AI-based Magic Mask uses the DaVinci Neural Engine to automatically create masks for an entire person or specific features such as face or arms. Creators get matte finesse tools, the ability to add and remove strokes and automatic tracking.

Smart Reframe quickly edits 16:9 HD or Ultra HD footage into square or vertical versions by automatically detecting and tracking objects and keeping them in frame, replacing the need to do this manually. 

Scene Cut Detection analyzes content on the timeline and applies blade edits to isolate each scene, rather than apply edits individually. 

Say Adobe Premiere Pro is your creative preference. 

Scene Edit Detection, recently introduced in the Premiere Pro public beta, is optimized by NVIDIA GPUs to quickly detect and tag cuts in final video files; eliminating painstakingly long scrubbing sessions just to make manual edits.

Auto Reframe automatically keeps the most important part of your shot in frame when reformatting aspect ratios for various social media sizes.

And once it’s time for exporting, the built-in NVIDIA hardware encoder on NVIDIA GeForce GPUs exports high-resolution video up to 5x faster than CPU alone.

All of this helps you spend less time in the editing bay. 

It can be difficult to modify and detail massive 3D scenes without massive slowdown. By now you probably know where I’m going with this. 

AI-powered denoising in Blender is a process that predicts final images from partially rendered results while designing in the viewport. This allows users to explore new ideas and quickly iterate on design choices with full confidence in how it will turn out.
