St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (SJCRH) is known for treating and curing childhood diseases. A lesser-known fact is that there's a large data center at its core, driving the necessary research involved in finding cures. Three floors of machines, some pushing hundreds of teraflops, are part of the lifesaving infrastructure. SJCRH Research Information Systems and Mark III Systems work together with NVIDIA platforms to provide biostatisticians, such as Zhaohua Lu, with the means to develop treatments for pediatric brain tumors and many other life-threatening illnesses. Pediatric brain tumor patients suffer from long-term neurocognitive deficits due to cancer-related treatment. In this study, neuroimaging and neurocognitive variables were collected to identify the brain regions that affect neurocognitive outcomes. Using the NVIDIA DGX A100 and A100 GPU, this study develops and implements a 3D convolution autoencoder to extract features from the neuroimaging data.
