The Omniverse platform is built on a foundation of detailed world modeling and physically accurate simulation, and the Isaac Sim application has built an ecosystem of robotics technologies for planning, motion generation, control, training, and sensor modeling that enable rapid and safe iteration during development. However, these tools are not only useful for replicating the real world, they’re also the building blocks of a robot’s mental model of the world critical for informed decision making. Isaac Cortex is a decision framework for virtual and physical robots designed to fully leverage the tooling in Isaac Sim for designing intelligent robot behavior. The Cortex enables programming task awareness and adaptive decision making into robots, and easily switching between simulation and reality. In this talk, we will introduce Isaac Cortex, demonstrate its programming paradigm, and detail some of the underlying technologies it orchestrates, focusing especially on the foundational motion generation tools built into Isaac Sim.
