SoftBank
NVIDIA AI Aerial enables SoftBank to build world’s first 5G AI-RAN, unlocking new revenue opportunities for global telco industry.
Supporting a growing ecosystem for AI-RAN, the new NVIDIA AI Aerial platform will transform radio access network technology into AI-driven computing infrastructure.
Ansys, Keysight, Nokia, and Samsung are among the first to use NVIDIA Aerial Omniverse Digital Twin, Aerial CUDA-Accelerated RAN, and Sionna Neural Radio Framework.
In addition to voice, data, and video, networks now need to support AI traffic generated by smartphones, cameras, robots, drones, smart glasses, and more. This shift creates a transformative opportunity for communication service providers (CSPs), who can use their existing infrastructure to deliver AI inferencing at scale with low latency and guaranteed quality of service (QoS). NVIDIA AI Aerial makes it possible, offering the software-defined, accelerated platform that can power RAN and AI from the same infrastructure, so CSPs can support AI today while future-proofing for 6G.
As we enter an era where society coexists with AI, the demand for data processing and electricity requirements will rapidly increase… Our collaboration with NVIDIA will help our infrastructure achieve a significantly higher performance with the utilization of AI, including optimization of the RAN. We expect it can also help us reduce energy consumption and create a network of interconnected data centers that can be used to share resources and host a range of generative AI applications.
- Junichi Miyakawa, President and CEO, SoftBank Corp.
Network operations are becoming increasingly complex, generating vast amounts of valuable data. By leveraging generative AI to extract timely, actionable insights from this data, telcos can optimize network operations, improve customer experiences, and unlock new revenue streams.
T-Mobile deployed a conversational AI-based chatbot, a self-service center, agent-assist functionality, and transcription services in their customer experience centers. Conversations between customers and agents are now transcribed to text—live—to better assist customer experience center agents. According to T-Mobile, in the first 18 months, they realized a significant return on their investment.
- The AI-Powered Telco
Telecom companies are perfectly positioned to expand their data centers with the accelerated computing infrastructure to support sovereign AI models and manufacture intelligence. This new class of data centers, known as AI factories, enables local governments, enterprises, and startups to build, develop, and deploy generative AI applications with enhanced security, performance, and fine-tuning for local language and cultural standards.
At Jio, we’re committed to fueling India’s technology renaissance by democratizing access to cutting-edge technologies, and our collaboration with NVIDIA is a significant step in this direction. Together, we will develop a state-of-the-art AI cloud infrastructure that’s secure, sustainable, and deeply relevant across India, accelerating the nation’s journey.
